Nobody on your team gets their own credits
Credits do not belong to a seat. They sit on the workspace, and every seat draws from the same balance — so a rep who runs dry on Tuesday is not stuck while a colleague ends the month with thousands unused. Rollover applies to that one pool, up to twice the monthly allowance, and a person two of you look up is charged for once.

A seat is a login, not a wallet
The two things a plan gives you are counted separately, and only one of them is a person.
A plan comes with an allowance of addresses and a number of seats. The allowance is granted to the workspace on renewal and sits in one place. A seat is somebody allowed to sign in and work — a login, a name on the team screen, a person whose lookups are attributed to them. Filling another seat does not add credits, and leaving one empty does not lose any.
That sounds like an accounting detail, and it decides how a month goes. The rep who books three demos on Monday and spends nothing on Tuesday, the researcher who works in bursts around a launch, the founder who does outbound for a fortnight and then nothing until the quarter turns — none of them are competing with each other for an allowance, because there is only one and it is the workspace one.
- 5
- people on one balance, on the largest plan
- 15,000
- addresses a month between them
Owner, admins, members and viewers all draw on the same number.
Not 3,000 each. Whoever is busiest that month spends what the others did not.
A pool buys results. A seat buys a colleague.
The comparison is between pricing models rather than between named products — what changes is what the unit of purchase is.
| Row | Cuvy | A per-seat licence |
|---|---|---|
| What the money buys | A number of addresses | A number of people who may look for addresses |
| A quiet month for one person | Their unspent credits are still there for whoever is busy | The seat costs what it cost in the month they were flat out |
| Somebody joins in the middle of a month | They spend from the balance on their first morning | A seat has to be bought before they can look anybody up |
| Two colleagues need the same prospect | One credit, once, for the workspace | The allowance is attached to a person, so it comes off both |
| Somebody leaves | The balance is untouched and the seat is reassigned | Whatever was left on that seat leaves with the seat |
Three arguments a shared pool never has
Each of these is a conversation a team on per-seat pricing has at least once a quarter.
- Two reps, one prospect, one credit
- The charge is keyed to the person and to the workspace rather than to whoever asked for them. The second lookup returns the address and puts no line on the invoice, whether it happens a minute later or in March.
- Nobody is idle waiting for a renewal
- There is no individual allowance to exhaust, so there is no case where one person is stopped while the team as a whole has plenty. The only balance that can run out is the shared one, and everybody can see it before they spend from it.
- Nothing is set aside per head
- A quiet month carries into the next one on the workspace balance, and credits bought outright in a pack do not expire at all. Because no share is allotted to an individual, no share lapses because that individual was on holiday.
What you get instead of a per-seat limit
Two of these are in the product. The third is the thing that is not, and it seemed better to say so here than to let you find out on a billing screen.
Everyone sees the same number
The balance is on the screen before a run starts, next to what the run could cost. Nobody has to ask what is left, and nobody spends the last of it without being shown that they are.
Every credit has a name on it
Each charge records the member who made it. Usage per person is a report you can read at the end of the month rather than something to reconstruct from memory.
No cap, and no overage either
There is no per-member spending limit yet. What there is: a run stops at the pool and asks rather than billing your card, so the worst case is a paused job and not a surprise invoice.
What teams ask before they invite anybody
Is there a way to cap what one member can spend?
Not today. There is no per-member spending cap in the product, and it would be easy to imply one. What there is: everybody sees the same balance before a run starts, a run pauses at the pool rather than overrunning it, and every credit records who spent it. If a hard cap per member is what you need, write and say so — it is not built, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
Can two of us run lookups at the same time?
Yes, and they draw on the same balance as they go, so the number both of you see is the real one. If your two runs happen to cover the same person, only one credit is spent — the charge is recorded against the person and the workspace, and the second write is refused rather than deduplicated afterwards.
If a teammate leaves, do their unused credits leave with them?
No, because there were never any of theirs. The balance belongs to the workspace rather than to the person who happened to spend from it, so a departure moves the seat count and nothing else. The seat is freed at once and can be given to whoever replaces them.
If I buy a top-up pack, is it mine or the team’s?
The team’s. A pack is bought by the workspace and lands in the same balance the monthly allowance lands in, so anybody with a seat can spend it and none of it is earmarked for whoever pressed the button. There is no way to buy credits for one member, which is the same answer as everywhere else on this page: the pool is the only place credits live.
Do credits roll over per person or across the workspace?
Across the workspace. There is one balance, one rollover and one cap: unused monthly credits carry into the next month up to twice the monthly allowance. Nothing is apportioned to individuals in the first place, so nothing expires on account of who was busy and who was not. Credits bought as a top-up pack never expire at all.
Can I see who spent what?
Yes. Every charge records the member who made it alongside the person it bought an address for, so team usage is a report rather than an argument. It is attribution after the fact, not a private wallet per member — the credit still came out of the one balance.
Does everyone on the team see the people I have already found?
Yes — lists, people and the addresses found for them belong to the workspace. That is the other half of the shared balance: a colleague opening somebody you paid for last month pays nothing, because the workspace already bought that person.
